Small-business hosting is not won on raw benchmarks. Most shared hosts are fast enough for a brochure site or a small store. It is won on the combination of a low, predictable cost, a panel the owner won't need a developer to touch, and support that answers before a down site costs a sale. Every budget host advertises a headline rate that only applies to a 48-month term. Hostinger's renewal rate is among the gentlest step-ups in the field; competitors frequently more than double at renewal. Over a realistic four-year ownership window, it was the cheapest total cost of the hosts we'd actually recommend.
A control panel built for owners, not sysadmins
Hostinger uses its own hPanel rather than classic cPanel. In our task tests (install WordPress, add an email address, set up a redirect, restore a backup) a first-time user completed every task without searching for help. Bluehost and SiteGround both tripped testers on at least one task.
Speed where it counts
On a stock WordPress install with a common theme, time-to-first-byte from a US and an EU test location stayed under the threshold we consider "no one will notice lag." It is not the single fastest host we tested (that was a more expensive managed plan) but it is comfortably past the point of diminishing returns for a small-business site.
